The CMA has always had a devotion to Our Lady of Victories. Indeed, our full legal name is Catholic Military Association of Our Lady of Victories, and the Rosary (the weapon of Our Lady of Victories) has always been central to our apostolate. It is time for us to formalise this with a public Consecration of the CMA to Our Lady.
On Sept 4th we will begin our prayerful preparation leading up to the Total Consecration. You can follow this on our social media.
On 7th October, the Bishop of the Forces, + Paul Mason, will lead the CMA to walk the Holy Mile from Walsingham Village to the Slipper Chapel. We will walk barefoot and pray the Rosary. Once there, he will lead us in the prayer of Total Consecration and Holy Mass. There will also be time set aside for Confession.
We will then walk back to Walsingham for a pub lunch.
"Consecration" means to "dedicate formally to a religious or divine purpose". Marian consecration is the act of entrusting everything to the protection, guidance, and intercession of Our Lady.
The act of entrusting oneself to Mary's care and intercession is as old as the Church. Jesus Himself entrusted His beloved disciple, John, to Mary while He was on the Cross (John 19:26-27). The early Christians and Church fathers recognized Mary’s holiness and her significance as the Mother of God.
A more formal method of consecration to Mary was developed by Saint Louis de Montfort in the 1600s. His 33-day prayer consists of short instructions on why Consecration is important, praying the Rosary and other various prayers to Mary and God. This period of prayer culminates in a beautiful prayer of Consecration.
By Consecrating the CMA to Our Lady, we are following in one of the deepest and most fruitful devotions of the Church. We are giving ourselves to Jesus through Mary, and entrusting the CMA to her. Please join us in person or in prayer.
