On Saturday, 13th September, I had the great privilege, together with my wife, CMA chair Capt Osborn
and Capt Fisher, to attend a mass at Westminster Cathedral.

A mass was offered in celebration of the life and witness of an extra ordinary person, the servant of God- John Randal Bradburne. And, to mark the 30 th anniversary of the John Bradburne Memorial Society.
John Randal Bradburne was a British lay missionary, poet, and devoted member of
Roman Catholic Church. He served as an Officer with the Gurkhas in Burma during
Second World War. During that time, he and small group succeeded to evade capture through the Malayan jungle. He caught cerebral malaria and had a religious experience while at death's door which changed his life. He became closer to God.
After leaving the military service, John dedicated his life to prayer, poetry and works

of mercy. His deepest calling was found in Zimbabwe, where he chose to live among and serve people affected by leprosy at Mutemwa. There, he became known for his
compassion, humility, and extreme devotion.
During Rhodesian civil war (Zimbabwe) he was captured and martyred in 1979 for his fidelity to Christ and his love for the people he served.
John is recognised as a Servant of God by the Church, and his cause canonization is progressing. His story continues to inspire countless faithful around the world.
Reminding us of the beauty of a life lived entirely for God and for others.
