AMI Philippines

It was an enormous honour for the CMA to be able to represent His Majesty’s Armed Forces at the 60th General Assembly & Conference of the Apostolat Militaire International. The Conference was held in Manila, Philippines, and the theme was “Strengthening Christian Values through Biblical Leadership, building bridges, ethical dilemma of AI and Modern Technology”.

The CMA advocated for its members by:

  • Speaking up for the need for better provision of Catholic Chaplains for serving personnel and their families, identifying the shortcomings of a system which allocates chaplains on the basis of career progression rather than sacramental need.

  • Communicating the deep and widespread spiritual risks and temptations faced by personnel in our times, and the hazards and spiritual benefits available in a military life lived well.

  • Setting the record straight on some widespread misunderstandings about dehumanisation of the enemy, showcasing Britain's good practice in inculcating good practice and Values and Standards in modern warfare across all branches and services.

  • Bringing credible research to discussions about the impact of AI and RPAS, including an excellent resource by Fr Andrew Pinsent.

AMI is officially recognized by the Holy See through Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life as an association of faithful members of the Forum of Catholic Inspired NGOs.
